ADHD Symptoms in Children
Here in Las Vegas we know there are parents who are working to help their children deal with ADHD. We would like to introduce ourselves to you and discuss ADHD with you, and have you contact us about your child’s particular needs.
It can be hard to understand ADHD and help your child. The first thing one should do is learn more about the disorder in general. ADHD or Attention-Deficit / Hyperactivity Disorder is one of the most common behavioral problems in children. The Centers for Disease Control estimates that as many as 9.5% of children and adolescents have been diagnosed with ADHD at some point in their lives.
Symptoms of ADHD include problems with attention and / or hyperactivity and impulsivity. Not all children display the same symptoms, and that’s why at our Las Vegas office we always treat each child as the unique individual that he or she is. Some children just have problems with attention whereas others may have both problems with attention and hyperactivity/impulsivity. A few children with ADHD may just have hyperactivity/impulsivity.
Perhaps you have noticed these potential signs of ADHD in your child: Inattentive symptoms include often making careless mistakes, having trouble focusing, not listening, being messy and disorganized, avoiding schoolwork that requires mental effort, being forgetful, losing things, not following through on instructions and being easily distracted.
There are additional signs that you may have noticed; these are hyperactive/impulsive symptoms that may include fidgeting, trouble staying seated, talking excessively, running or climbing when it is not appropriate, having trouble playing quietly, acting as if driven by a motor, having trouble waiting turns, blurting out and interrupting.
If your child has some of these symptoms and is having difficulty in school, with friends or at home, he or she may have ADHD. The only way we can determine if there is anything troubling your child is to meet the child in person. Please call us at 702-838-0742 to make an appointment. We’ll be glad to discuss your child’s situation in our office and recommend treatments and therapies that can make a big difference in their lives.
